Attitudes and Motivation of Non-Native Chinese Language Learners towards Learning Chinese Language

Learning attitudes and motivation are among the most important factors that affect students' second language learning outcomes. Many previous studies also revealed have a positive relationship with students’ However, non-native Chinese Language (CL) learners may require more attention. Hence, objectives of this study (1) to identify Malaysian former SJKC CL learners’ proficiency levels; (2) examine attitude (3) determine between levels. This is both quantitative qualitative in nature. The data collection methods used mainly surveys focused interviews. A total 79 were chosen through snowball sampling technique answer online questionnaires. In addition, interview sessions conducted six survey participants. results showed there was mild (r=0.269) level, even though respondents highly motivated learn language. result be affected by other than motivation. respondent’s self-report 80% participants low learners.
